What is Mat Draft?
Mat Draft is a free fantasy sports app for the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships. You draft a roster of college wrestlers, and your team scores points based on how those wrestlers actually perform at the tournament — advancing through the bracket, winning by bonus, and placing in the top eight.
How does fantasy wrestling scoring work?
Wrestlers earn points in three categories. Advancement points are awarded for each win: 1.0 point for a championship bracket win and 0.5 for a consolation win, excluding placement matches. Bonus points reward dominant wins: 2.0 for a fall, forfeit, default, or disqualification, 1.5 for a technical fall, and 1.0 for a major decision, with no bonus for a regular decision. Placement points go to the top eight finishers in each weight class: 16 for first, 12 for second, 10 for third, 9 for fourth, 7 for fifth, 6 for sixth, 4 for seventh, and 3 for eighth.
How many wrestlers do I draft?
It depends on the mode. Dream Team and Tiers League are ten picks — one for each NCAA Division I weight class, running from 125 pounds up through heavyweight (285 pounds). Private Leagues draft a larger roster: twelve by default, and a commissioner can set anywhere from ten to fifteen, so the extra picks are flex slots rather than one per weight class.
What game modes does Mat Draft offer?
Three. Private Leagues let you draft head-to-head against friends in real time on a private leaderboard. Dream Team lets you pick an ideal ten-wrestler roster and compare it against the whole community. Tiers League groups wrestlers into tiers by seed and asks you to pick one from each tier, which rewards strategy over simply taking every top seed.
When does the NCAA wrestling tournament take place?
The NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships are held over three days in March. The 2027 tournament is the next edition, and Mat Draft scores every match live as it happens.

Do I need to know college wrestling to play?
No. Wrestlers are listed with their seed, school, and weight class, and Mat Draft publishes live brackets, team standings, and community pick statistics you can use to guide your picks. Following the seeds is a reasonable starting strategy for a first-time player.
